Kent-Moore J-938 Transmission Main Shaft Remover and Replacer
The transmission main shaft must be forced straight in or out of the transmission case when removing and replacing. To install the tool, screw the internal shaft with the small threaded end into the end of the main shaft by turning the small handle. The bolt the tool body to the U-joint housing at the rear of the transmission case. Turn the large handle to the right, while holding the small handle, to prevent the screw from backing out. This forces the transmission shaft out of the mainshaft bearing. Turn the small handle counter clockwise to remove the end of the tool from the shaft.
To replace the mainshaft, turn the yoke of the tool down on the threads and screw the tool shaft into the threaded end of the mainshaft. Bolt the yoke of the tool to the transmission case. Turn the large handle counter clockwise until the mainshaft is seated in the rear of the bearing. Weight 5 lbs.
