Kent-Moore J-72 Synchronizing Spring and Thrust Washer Tool
To disassemble the transmission, it is necessary to remove the synchronizing spring and the second speed thrust washer lock ring, and then replace them when reassembling the transmission. The fingers of the tool are formed from chrome steel, and machined very thin at one end to fit under the spring and washer. The fingers extend with a slight outward bend so that when the sliding ring is pulled toward the end of the fingers, the fingers will rock upward at the holder ring (near the thin portion of the fingers), causing the synchronizing spring and lock ring to expand and open enough to be removed or replaced with ease.
