New valve stem guides are serviced with the holes for the valve stems undersize, which must be reamed to correct size after being pressed into place. This reamer has a long pilot end that centers into the guide to assure reaming a true, straight hole. The same reamer is used for both intake and exhaust guides. Use with a tee handle wrench.

  J-982 Cylinder Head Holding Fixture
When grinding and refacing valves, or removing and replacing valve springs, the cylinder head holding fixture provides a means for holding the six cylinder head. This hold fixture is provided with two valve rests that fit into the slots on the two arms of the fixture and two spring compressors. The valve rests have extension plugs that to up and bear against the valve heads, holding them in place when using the valve spring compressor. Another part of the holding fixture is the valve, spring and cup holder, which can be hooked to the upper bar. This holder is provided with compartments for holding valves, keys, springs and cups, and prevents these parts from being mislaid. The cylinder head holding fixture also enables the mechanic to keep the valves in the order in which they were removed from the cylinder head.

KMO-49

Valve Reseater Set
1934 Passenger Cars and Trucks

  KMO-49 Valve Reseater Set
The cylinder head on 1934 models has the valves at an angle, and to get the full horsepower that the engine can develop, this special set of tools is required when reseating valves. The roughing cutters are a full form type, cutting all three angles at one time; the finishing cutters are of special design with a long pilot bearing, insuring a perfect 45 degree seat; true with valve guide. The pilots are an expanding type of self-centering design that will accurately fit oversize or slightly worn valve guides. Complete operating instructions come with each set, and if followed, a perfect commercial job of reseating and valve fitting will be done. Note—the pilots used in this set are also adaptable to the 1935-39 models when used with KMO-105 valve reseating cutters shown below.

KMO-105 Valve Reseating Cutters
A definite change was made in the valve seat construction of 1935 models. The valve seats became 30 degrees instead of 45 degrees, and the ports were machined to effect a venturi action. To properly reseat the new type of valve seat, the use of these especially designed cutters is required. These combination cutters and arbors were made to permit their use on the pilots supplied in the KMO-49 valve reseating set of 1934. These cutters are precision made—packed in metal box for protection, and include full instructions furnished with each set.
