J-89 Engine Vacuum Checking Gauge
This gauge accurately indicates the pressure in inches of vacuum, below atmospheric, existing in the engine when it is running. The vacuum gauge is connjected to the engine at the windshield wiper connection in the intake manifold by unscrewing the compression coupling and connecting the vacuum gauge rubber tube to the elbow in the intake manifold. Fluctuations of the gauge indicate improper valve action, poor carburation, ignition trouble or gasket leaks around the intake manifold, cylinder head or spark plugs, all of which should be corrected before the engine can be successfully tuned. |

KMO-161 Timing Light
This timing light (made by Sun Electric) makes it simple to time an engine. The fly wheel marking is distinctly and clearly seen while the engine is running—no blur—no smear. The timing light gives absolute stroboscopic action—synchronizing light with movement. The long slender barrel makes it convenient and easy to use. (See also KMO-318 Power Timing Light). |

KMO-213 Cylinder Compression Tester
This compression tester (Sun Electric S-60) is a handy portable instrument that quickly and accurately shows the exact pound pressure in each engine cylinder. The tool enables you to determine the true condition and efficiency of the valve, pistons and rings. Furnished with a universal rubber fitting that fits all spark plug holes, the tool uses a specially designed check valve that holds the compression reading in the gauge until released. |

KMO-318 Power Timing Light
For the best in an engine timing light, the KMO 318 (Sun Electric "X" Series) Power Timing Light is without an equal. It does a precision job of timing an engine. The instrument supplies a clean cut stroboscopic flash regardless of motor speed, even showing tool marks on the flywheel at top speed, and is distinctly visible at a distance as far away as three feet. With the KMO 318 Power Timing Light there is positively no blur—no smear—no error. (See also KMO-161 Timing Light). |

KMO-909 Armature Tester
Every shop that does its own generator repair work requires an armature tester or "growler" to determine and locate armature troubles—whether the armature is grounded, shorted or has an open circuit.
Test for Ground—Armature is placed in tester for ground by touching one test point to the shaft of the armature and the other to the commutator. If lamp lights, the armature is grounded.
Test for Short—Test for short by holding a flat strip of steel lengthwise along the top of the armature, turn on switch and rotate armature. If shorted, the steel blade will be attracted to the coil.
Test for Open Circuit—Test for open circuit by holding a flat strip of steel along each bar of the commutator. Each bar should give a strong flash. A weak flash indicates an open circuit. |
